Peptide Therapy

Information Pack

Your guide to how peptides work, safety considerations, what to expect, and how the process operates within our clinic.

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as powerful biological signals within the body, regulating hormones, inflammation, tissue repair, metabolism, and cognitive function.

They are not supplements, but active compounds with targeted physiological effects, long established in clinical medicine.

As interest in peptide therapy grows, the market is evolving faster than both the evidence base and regulation. Sourcing peptides outside regulated pharmacies or without appropriate prescribing and protocol oversight carries significant risk.

Our licensed physicians are experienced in peptide science and operate within strict clinical governance frameworks, ensuring pharmaceutical-grade sourcing, safe prescribing, and evidence-led care.

1. What are peptides?

Peptides are short chains of amino acids that act as signalling molecules in the body. They can influence:

  • metabolism

  • recovery and repair

  • inflammation

  • immune function

  • cognitive performance

  • hormonal signalling

  • cellular energy and ageing pathways

Peptides are already used throughout medicine (e.g., insulin, GLP-1 agonists). In longevity and performance medicine, more specialised peptides are used to optimise recovery, improve metabolic health, support injury healing, improve sleep, and enhance resilience.

Important:

Many of these newer peptides are unlicensed or research-grade, meaning they have promising science but do not yet hold UK marketing authorisation. A doctor must assess your suitability individually.

2. Why might someone use peptides?

Patients typically explore peptide therapy for:

Metabolic & body composition goals
reduced visceral fat
 improved insulin sensitivity
 improved energy and glucose control

Recovery & repair
tendon or ligament healing
muscle recovery
 surgical recovery
chronic overuse injuries

Cognitive & mood support
•
focus and mental clarity
 stress resilience
neuroplasticity & learning

Immune regulation
•
reduced inflammation
enhanced immune function

Longevity & healthy ageing
•
mitochondrial function
• autophagy activation
• cellular repair
• sleep regulation

3. Safety, licensing status, and regulation (please read carefully)

Peptide therapy in the UK sits under strict regulation:

  • Some peptides used in clinical practice do not hold UK marketing authorisation. Where a peptide is recommended, this follows an individual medical assessment and is supplied as an unlicensed medicine when the doctor believes it better meets the patient’s clinical need than licensed alternatives.

    • clinical justification

    • informed consent

    • why no licensed alternative is suitable

  • Some products may be labelled by the manufacturer as “Research Use Only”. This wording reflects the manufacturer’s regulatory position. Within the clinic, these products are used following medical assessment, informed consent, and with written guidance to support safe use.

The prescribing doctor remains responsible for clinical decision-making, patient selection, consent, and ongoing clinical oversight.

  • Before any peptide therapy begins, you must have:

    • a full consultation with a doctor

    • a personalised risk–benefit discussion

    • written information

    • signed consent

Peptides are never sold as retail products or pre-filled “boxes.”

4. Who is suitable for peptide therapy?

You may be suitable if you:

  • are over 18

  • have a clear therapeutic goal

  • are medically stable

  • are able to follow storage and dosing instructions

  • are not pregnant or breastfeeding

You may not be suitable if you have:

  • active cancer or history of melanoma

  • severe infection

  • uncontrolled psychiatric illness

  • significant liver, kidney, or cardiac disease

  • autoimmune disease flare

  • are pregnant/breastfeeding

  • unexplained recent weight loss

The doctor will make the final decision based on your full history.

5. What does the peptide therapy process look like?

Step 1 — Submit your intake and consent forms

This allows the doctor to assess your background and ensure safety.

Step 2 — Initial consultation (£150)

You’ll discuss your goals, medical history, contraindications, and relevant lab work. The doctor will advise whether peptide therapy is appropriate.

Step 3 — Personalised treatment plan

You will receive a written plan including:

  • which peptide(s) are suitable

  • dosing schedule

  • administration technique

  • cycle length

  • expected benefits & timeline

  • safety information

  • pricing

Step 4 — Confirmation

You reply to confirm you wish to proceed.

Step 5 — Ordering & fulfilment

Peptides → shipped to clinic → collected or posted to you

Step 6 — Starting treatment

You will receive:

  • written instructions

  • storage guidance

  • QR-coded administration videos (where applicable)

  • optional nurse demonstration

Step 7 — Follow-up

  • 1-month review: complimentary check-in

  • 3-month review (£175): clinical review of progress and dosing

  • 6-month review (£175): longer-term protocol adjustment

6. What are the potential benefits?

Benefits depend on the peptide, but may include:

  • enhanced recovery

  • reduced inflammation

  • improved metabolic markers

  • improved sleep

  • improved cognition or mood

  • improved joint or tendon health

  • improved body composition

  • increased cellular energy

Results vary from person to person and cannot be guaranteed.

7. What are the risks or side effects?

Side effects are peptide-specific but may include:

  • fatigue or lethargy

  • headache

  • nausea

  • appetite change

  • fluid retention

  • local injection site irritation

  • transient mood or sleep changes

Serious side effects are rare but possible. You must report any concerning symptoms promptly.

8. Storage and handling

  • Some peptides must be kept in the fridge (2–8°C)
